February Student Spotlight- Janiya Richardson


Our February Student Spotlight is Janiya Richardson. She is a senior at Amos P. Godby High School with a 4.58 GPA. For this spotlight, we got to ask her some questions and get to know her better. We are so excited to highlight all the fantastic things Janiya is doing!



Future Career Interest: Software Engineer and Entrepreneur


Hobbies: Listening to music, programming, reading, and journaling


School Activities/Clubs: National Honor Society, Robotics, and tutoring

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Winning the 2021 NCWIT Aspirations in Computing National Award


What book or documentary do you recommend?

"A Long Way Down" by Jason Reynolds.


What is your favorite quote?

"The most important thing is to try and inspire people so that they can be great in whatever they want to do." - Kobe Bryant


What is a story or memory you have that sticks out from an L3 Event, Program or Workshop?

One of my favorite memories from the leadership conference was at the end of a mock interview with Dr. Torres and talking about helping kids who are neurodivergent through education and making things more accessible to them.


What have you learned through L3 that has made a difference for you?

I have learned how to properly network with other people and how to be more confident in myself.


What is a cause you're passionate about?

One cause that I'm passionate about is bridging the digital divide between disadvantaged kids and their socially advanced counterparts.


What makes L3 special?

What makes L3 so special is the fact that you get to interact and be with other girls who are also ambitious like you. Also, L3 teaches you not only about career development, but self-worth and self-esteem as well.
